Tribute to Dad
I’m grateful to my Dad for who I am today. He encouraged and pushed me and wouldn’t let me get away with anything less than being successful. Dad couldn’t understand how someone as myself could stubborn, but he was just as strong in personality as I was so he was able to stand his ground. My dad saw in me what I didn’t see in myself and never gave up even when it seemed like my plans weren’t really working out. In my 4th year of University, I was at risk of being kicked out because of very poor performance, most likely due to sheer laziness! But once I got over that hurdle, things seemed to click into place and I was once again on track to graduating from medical school.
I can’t say medicine was my passion or is my passion, I love singing and fun stuff, but I’m so grateful I got the opportunity as that is the best gift my father gave me as of today. I feel privileged to be able to help people and play a positive role in society.
It’s not really about me, but it’s all about what God’s purpose for my life and I believe that is definitely a God-given opportunity.
Our Dad is selfless and is always concerned about his children’s welfare even ’till this day. If he feels or sees anyone struggling financially he would always find a way to help them out despite the exchange rate. He is a great role model to many people and has tried to stay steadfast and true to his cause.
He has had a rough period with my mum not being well for a while but he has stood by her through thick and thin. Even when she has had to travel for prolonged periods of time he has always been there for her and the family. He still works at 80 years old and enjoys his profession as an Ophthalmologist.
He is in church every day for morning prayers and has read the bible many times through. He is true to his word and is not swayed by people’s opinion of him. He does not believe in things like spending money at parties which is a Nigerian tradition and would rather give you gift.
He would most likely have got easier results to many problems by giving in to society with things like bribery but he tries to stay true to his principles and I’m sure has this Hasn’t gone down well on many occasions (Smile).
My father is very disciplined and has been a good Steward to whatever God has given him and is not wasteful. Being a great Entrepreneur, he has been able to combine this with his profession as an Ophthalmologist.
He has been an excellent role model as a Father, husband, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He has been blessed with his life partner – Our Mum – and they have now been married for 52 years. That is inspiring to me especially in this Day and Age.
I thank God for his life and Pray that God blesses him with many more Healthy blessed years in Jesus name
Amen 🙏🏾
Your loving Daughter
